Proof Positive

Those of us who enjoy spanking (also known as This Thing We Do, or TTWD)--doesn't matter whether we're giving or receiving--have always believed a couple of things:

1. Spanking your partner (or being spanked) is good stress relief.......and,

2. The couple that "plays" together, stays together.

Now it turns out that we really did know what we're talking about. Check out this link to an article on the site New Scientist--

http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg20127014.300-spanking-brings-couples-together.html

I especially like the picture they included with the article. By that, I don't mean it's a good picture--there's a lot of things wrong with it, in fact (that's a horrible implement to use in an OTK situation, plus the spankee should be facing the other way--I'm not a big fan of trying to spank across the body like that. And, since I'm a Spanker who prefers M/F, I could also say that the roles should be reversed.) :-)

Mostly, I just give them credit for trying. They could have left the article unillustrated. This at least gives you something else to look at, and I dare say even lends a little humor to the article.

Happy reading!

What To Do, What To Do....

Being a weatherman in Minnesota has to be the easiest job in the world. Just make a wild guess and you're going to be right about 1/3 of the time. For example:

On Tuesday the local paper, The Star Tribune, gave the following forecast for the upcoming week--rain on Tuesday, possible snow in the morning on Wednesday, light rain showers on Thursday, a rain/snow mix possible on Friday, wet snow on Saturday, flurries early on Sunday, and mostly cloudy on Monday.

The next day--Wednesday--here was the forecast for the week just one day later: early flurries on Wednesday, mostly cloudy Thursday and Friday, storm misses us to the south on Saturday, cold Sunday, mixed precipitation on Monday.

In other words, everything they told us on Tuesday has now been changed. Everything. On every day. Totally different.

Makes long-range planning a breeze, doesn't it?

With that kind of uncertainty hanging over your head, what's the best thing to do? How about checking out the latest blogs to be added to my blog roll....

The first one up should be no surprise, as I mentioned it in a previous post, "Blogging Friends"--

Brambleberry Blush is written by Carly, married 30 years already. Within the past year she came across a spanking blog and the heavens opened up for her and a majestic voice spake thusly, "This is your destiny."

Okay, maybe not. But it did start her on a voyage of exploration and discovery, aided by her husband, Ben. This is her story as she wends her way through the spanko world.

Next up--

I'm putting this one under "Picture Blogs". Veronica is the Old-Fashion Girl who gets spanked, and she very kindly and generously photographs her bottoms up trips and shares them with us. There are some lovely photo sets here, as well as some pictures that are just for fun. A willing spanker, an OTK spankee, and a camera--who could ask for more? I think you'll enjoy what you see.

And finally--I have Spank That Brat (F/f) as well as Ms. Audrey Spanks (F/m) listed here under "Commercial Sites", so it's only logical that I complete the triumverate--

This is the site that reveals Audrey Knight's softer side.....her more well-rounded side.....her oh so very spankable side. The M/f site finds Audrey in trouble and her bare bottom getting some very stingy attention. Of course, judging by the picture below--who could resist giving this lady the spanking she deserves?

Check out the free stuff--take the tour, as it were--and you just might decide to become a member. Tell her "Dr. Ken sent me" and you'll get....well....absolutely nothing, but I imagine she'd be happy to know where some of her traffic is coming from.

At the Chicago Crimson Moon spanking party this past weekend, some prizes were raffled off to those attending, and three of the prizes were a one-month free membership to one of Audrey's sites. I was really hoping to win one of those, but luck wasn't with me. Still, it was very generous of her, and on behalf of the people who attended the party, I'd like to give Audrey a great big, "Thank you." (And while I'm at it....a special "hello" to my favorite red-headed lurker!)

So, let it snow....or let it rain.....or let the wind blow....whatever the weather, you now have something to keep yourself occupied this weekend. Enjoy!

A Short Movie Reference

"This one time, at band camp......"

P.S. -- Although I didn't know it at the time I posted it, today--March 24--is the 35th birthday of Alyson Hannigan, the "band camp" girl from the American Pie movies. She also plays Lily on the TV show How I Met Your Mother, and she played Willow on Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Happy Birthday, Alyson! Hope you get that birthday spanking!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Isn't this nice? Not only is the young lady in the picture below wishing you a Happy St. Patrick's Day in her own special and unique way, but she has obligingly positioned herself "bottoms up" in anticipation of your well-deserved response.

Don't you wish all the ladies were this cooperative on St. Paddles...er, St. Patrick's Day?

What A Coincidence

"I'm just saying, isn't it odd that every book you've asked me to get for you has been on the bottom shelf....."

Safety First

Okay. You've told her she's going to get a spanking. You've instructed her to bend over and grab for her ankles. Obedient lady that she is, she complies. Her skirt rides up a bit in back, exposing her bottom. That's okay. It gives you something to aim at for the first few swats. Eventually you'll flip the skirt up and out of the way, but this will do for now. You pick a good solid paddle, or maybe--if she's been very naughty--you grab a cane. You swing the implement through the air a few times, letting her hear the swishing sound it makes, letting her wonder if one of these times it's going to connect with her backside. Finally you're satisfied. You stand back, you aim carefully at your delightful target, and you start to swing away. Right?

Wrong! Wrong, wrong, wrong. Take another look at the picture. In that pose, bent over as she is, and in those shoes--if you smacked her bottom right now she'd tip over and fall on her head. Her balance point is way too small. She needs to widen her stance (no Larry Craig jokes, please!). Hands on her ankles will leave her overbalanced. Hands on knees will suffice, and will provide a more stable position for her. Or--even better--perhaps you could move a chair in front of her and let her grip the seat, or place her palms flat on it.

Lastly, one other thing you could do as a spanker is to not stand back at a distance. Tuck her under your arm and wrap it around her waist. Move your leg against hers so that, if necessary, she can lean against you and not topple. You want to spank her, not knock her over.

The safety of the spankee should always be your main concern. The scenario that you played out in your head might sound good, but always be sure to check it against reality and make things as safe as possible. The only thing she should get out of the encounter is a bright, shiny and stinging behind.

The picture below has it right. She still needs to move her feet further apart--and, of course, that skirt needs to come up--but with that chair in front of her for support, the spanker should be able to swing away as hard as he--or the spankee--might like.

Oh, and one other thing......get that yappy little dog out of there......

Post-Oscars, pt. 2

In part 1, we took a look at this year's Best Actress winner, Kate Winslet. In part 2, we focus on the winner of the Best Supporting Actress award, Penelope Cruz, for her role in Woody Allen's film, Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

The lovely Ms. Cruz became the first Spanish actress to win an Oscar. A few year earlier in 2006, she was also the first Spanish actress to be nominated for an Oscar in the Best Actress category for her performance in the film Volver. She's been a highly acclaimed actress in Spain since the 1990's but that same sort of fame has been somewhat elusive for her here in the United States until recently.

One of the reasons for that--and I believe it was her friend, Salma Hayek, who made this point, although I'm not 100% certain--might be the language. Trying to act while speaking a language that is not your native tongue can't be easy. And even though Penelope speaks four languages, there still has to be a bit of an emotional disconnect when delivering a line in a foreign language, concentrating hard on pronunciation and speaking the line clearly, sometimes having to say the line phonetically--try to do that and stay "in the moment"! It can't be easy.

The beauty--and maybe the genius--of her role in Vicky Cristina Barcelona is that about half of her lines are in Spanish. That had to be a big help in keeping her emotionally connected to her scenes and all her other lines, as well.

That's the theory, at any rate. Of course, I could be wrong. :-)

All of this, of course, now brings us to the fantasy question I asked back in Part 1. We all have our lists of celebrities that we'd like to spank or be spanked by. Is Penelope Cruz on your list? She's certainly climbing higher on mine.

I must just take a moment here to tell you that in writing this post, every time I typed the word, "Spanish", it came out "Spankish". Maybe my own fantasies are trying to tell me something.

Penelope Cruz and Salma Hayek did a film together not too long ago called Bandidas, which was a fun romp. I think what would be fun would be a film starring Penelope Cruz, Salma Hayek, and Paz Vega, as well. The joke that would go around, of course, is that you can't understand a word they're saying, but the movie looks beautiful!

And speaking of beautiful....one last photo of Penelope Cruz:

A Slight Misunderstanding

Blogging Friends

“These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers.”

The rules to accepting this award: “Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.”

To my surprise and delight, Bonnie over at My Bottom Smarts picked me as one of her eight nominees. It was a definite "feel good" moment--just when I needed one, too. Thanks for that, Bonnie!

Now, I'm supposed to nominate eight more bloggers who are deserving and who haven't already been awarded. It's hard to avoid duplication when you have eight people who nominate eight people who nominate eight people and so on. Some of the people I would nominate--Iris, Hermione, Mina, Andrades Girl, Todd and Suzy, Bonnie (of course!) and the gang at Devlin O'Neill's Weblog--have already been nominated elsewhere (and congratulations to all of them!).

So, here are my nominees, in no particular order--and if you have already been awarded, my apologies for picking you a second time, but as I said--I think some duplication is going to be inevitable:

Radha - http://radhasutra.blogspot.com/

Pixie - http://spankingpixie.com/

Cigi - http://cigisworld.blogspot.com/

Cheryl - http://positivelyspanking.blogspot.com/

Chris - http://firemnchris.blogspot.com/

Greenwoman - http://rootsdown.wordpress.com/

Robin - http://robinsredbottom.blogspot.com/

Carly - http://brambleberryblush.blogspot.com/

Now you know their names and where to find them. Go. Read. Enjoy. Leave a comment. Make a new friend.

Tell them Dr. Ken sent you. :-)

Post-Oscars, pt. 1

Well, the Oscars have come and gone. I wish I had done a Pre-Oscar post listing my picks for some of the major awards--best actor/actress, best supporting actor/actress, and best picture. I think I would have done surprisingly well.

Of course, just about everybody else, including the experts, were picking exactly the same winners as I was, so I guess that actually wouldn't have been much to brag about. Heath Ledger was a lock for Best Supporting Actor. Prior to the Oscars, Kate Winslet was winning awards left and right for the two films she was in, Revolutionary Road and The Reader, and therefore also seemed a lock for the Best Actress category. Slumdog Millionaire had been generating good vibes and Oscar buzz from the moment it came out. It may not have been a 100% sure thing for Best Picture, but it seemed close enough. And if the Academy was going to go global with the Best Picture award, then it was about time they acknowledged someone like Penelope Cruz for Best Supporting Actress.

The only one I would have missed would have been Best Actor. I just didn't think it would go to Sean Penn, although he certainly turned in a wonderful performance. I also didn't think it would go to Mickey Rourke. The nomination was a nice nod to his return to the fold, but I didn't think Hollywood would honor him with the statue. Not yet--maybe his next film. I was probably pulling for Brad Pitt to win.

As for Best Director--I have a horrible track record in trying to pick that category. I wouldn't have even tried.

Anyway--congratulations to Kate Winslet on her win for Best Actress!

What I like about Kate Winslet? She's a real woman with real curves, not some anorexic ultra-thin size 0 just for the sake of looking good on camera. She's a very realistic role model for young girls to look up to--proof positive that you don't have to binge and purge in order to be acceptable and successful--and she takes it quite seriously.

Although not too seriously. For a charity auction, Kate let her whimsical nature come forth and painted this portrait of her bottom--

I should point out that it could also be seen as a big letter "W"--for Winslet, of course--but I daresay it brought in more money by being labelled as the lower portion of her anatomy. And she probably got a bigger kick out of it.

Those of us in the spanking community very often play a simple fantasy game. It's just a simple question--if you could spank, or be spanked, by any movie or TV celebrity--who would you choose? In same cases, we expand it to naming 5 celebrities, or we make it a top ten list. So, all you spankos out there--is Kate Winslet on your list?

Let me leave you with one more photo while you ponder your answer.....
